PENNSYLVANIA — Five people have been arrested as part of what federal authorities describe as a drug trafficking operation based in New Castle.
According to FBI Pittsburgh, agents partnered with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies during a tactical operation conducted Friday morning at three locations in New Castle.
Federal investigators allege the suspects were involved in a drug trafficking ring that obtained large quantities of cocaine and fentanyl. The FBI said the individuals traveled to Michigan and other states to acquire the narcotics before bringing them back to the area.
Authorities confirmed that five people were taken into custody during the operation.
The FBI has not yet publicly released the names of those arrested or detailed the specific charges they face. Information regarding evidence seized during the raids also has not been released.
Federal officials said additional details, including the charges and items recovered during the searches, are expected to be announced as the investigation continues.
The operation involved multiple law enforcement agencies and remains ongoing.
