NORTH CAROLINA — Two Statesville men are facing drug and weapons-related charges after a child welfare check led investigators to discover cocaine, firearms and drug paraphernalia inside a residence, according to police.

The investigation began after Statesville Police received an anonymous tip alleging drugs were being kept at a home on Valley Street and that a juvenile may have been in danger.

Police said investigators worked with the Iredell County Department of Social Services before responding to the residence. Upon arrival, officers reportedly observed drug paraphernalia and an unsecured firearm that was accessible to a child.

Investigators later executed a search warrant at the home on May 28. During the search, authorities said they seized multiple firearms, cocaine and various drug paraphernalia items.

Dylan Matthew Truitt, 23, was arrested and charged with felony exposing a child to a controlled substance, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor child abuse. He was given a $75,000 secured bond by an Iredell County magistrate.

Police also identified Carlos Manuel Giron, 34, of Statesville, as a suspect during the investigation. Giron was charged with felony possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Authorities said Giron was already on probation for felony possession of cocaine and attempted possession of a firearm by a felon. He received a $10,000 secured bond.

Police said a third person is believed to have been involved in the incident, but that individual’s identity has not been released. An active arrest warrant remains outstanding.

The child involved was placed in the custody of the Iredell County Department of Social Services.

The investigation remains ongoing. All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
