OHIO — Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian seriously injured late Thursday night on the city’s east side.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, an adult was pushing a shopping cart in a southbound lane of Barnett Road, south of Bolton Avenue, around 11:41 p.m. when they were struck by a Honda Accord traveling in the same direction.

Investigators said the pedestrian was knocked to the ground by the initial collision. The shopping cart then entered the northbound lanes, where it was struck by another vehicle. Police said both drivers involved in those collisions remained at the scene.

Shortly afterward, the pedestrian was struck a second time by a vehicle traveling northbound on Barnett Road. Authorities said that driver left the scene without stopping.

The victim suffered serious injuries in the second collision and was transported to Grant Medical Center for treatment.
