
SOUTH CAROLINA — A 39-year-old man was fatally shot early Thursday morning after chasing a person he found inside his vehicle, according to Rock Hill Police.
Police said the incident began around 4:40 a.m. at a home in the 1100 block of Amelia Avenue.
Investigators said the man discovered someone inside his vehicle, which was parked at his residence. The suspect fled on foot when the homeowner came outside.
According to police, the man chased the suspect, and shots were fired during the encounter.
Responding officers found the 39-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound in the yard of a home on Amelia Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rock Hill Police and the York County Sheriff’s Office are searching for the suspect.
Authorities are investigating the case as a homicide. No arrests have been announced, and additional details have not been released.
