NORTH CAROLINA — One person was killed in a shooting at a west Charlotte park Wednesday morning, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Police said the shooting happened around 11:30 a.m. at Westerly Hills Park along Bristol Drive near Wilkinson Boulevard.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and pronounced one person dead at the park.
Investigators said the case is being treated as a homicide.
As of Wednesday afternoon, no arrests had been announced and the victim’s identity had not been released.
Police have not disclosed what led to the shooting and the investigation remains ongoing.
