Thousands without power in Georgia

GEORGIA — More than 3,500 customers across Georgia are currently without electricity Wednesday morning, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

As of the latest update, 3,527 customers are without power statewide out of more than 5.1 million tracked customers. Georgia currently ranks seventh in the nation for the total number of power outages and ninth for the percentage of customers affected.

Lee County is reporting the largest number of outages in the state, with 754 customers currently without power. Wilcox County follows with 627 outages, while Monroe County has 587 customers affected. Stewart County is reporting 504 outages, Habersham County has 452, Dawson County has 227, Chattahoochee County has 160 and Webster County has 43.

Among utility providers, Sumter EMC is reporting the largest number of affected customers, with 1,467 outages. Middle Georgia EMC has 627 customers without service, Southern Rivers Energy is reporting 587 outages, Habersham EMC has 453 and Sawnee EMC has 247.

Stewart County currently has the highest outage percentage among the counties listed, with 17.63% of tracked customers without electricity. Middle Georgia EMC has the highest outage percentage among utilities, with 7.28% of customers affected.

Utility crews continue working to restore service as outages remain active across Georgia Wednesday morning.
