KENTUCKY — A Cleveland man wanted in connection with a 2021 fatal shooting has been arrested in Kentucky after nearly five years on the run, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Robbie Cayson, 37, was taken into custody Monday afternoon in Louisville by members of the Western Kentucky Fugitive Task Force and the Louisville Metro Fugitive Unit. Cayson was wanted by the Cleveland Division of Police on an aggravated murder charge.
The case stems from a Sept. 29, 2021, shooting in the 11700 block of Lenacrave Avenue in Cleveland. Responding officers found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds to the head.
Authorities identified the victims as 35-year-old Diontae Wallace and 33-year-old Jovana Brown. Wallace died at the scene, while Brown survived her injuries.
Investigators determined Cayson was involved in the shooting, and a warrant was issued for his arrest in November 2021. The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force subsequently adopted the case and spent years pursuing leads regarding his whereabouts.
Recent information indicated Cayson had fled Ohio and was living in Louisville. Authorities located and arrested him in the 1400 block of Hazel Street.
According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Cayson allegedly provided a false name when officers attempted to arrest him in an effort to avoid identification.
He is expected to face extradition to Ohio to answer the aggravated murder charge.
