MINNESOTA — An Olmsted County man was killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday evening in Steele County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash occurred around 5:20 p.m. on westbound Highway 14 near County Road 43 in Havana Township.
Authorities identified the victim as Richard Dean Bedney, 83, of Byron.
According to the state patrol, Bedney was riding a 2018 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on Highway 14 when the motorcycle left the roadway. Investigators said the crash occurred on wet pavement.
Bedney suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported that Bedney was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The Steele County Sheriff’s Office, Owatonna Police Department, Owatonna Fire Department and Mayo Ambulance assisted at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol.
