FLORIDA — One man is dead following a shootout at a Daytona Beach park early Sunday morning, according to police.
The shooting happened at Derbyshire Park in the area of Derbyshire Road. Investigators said a man and a woman were approached by a man they did not know, leading to an argument.
According to police, the unknown man revealed a firearm during the confrontation. The man who was with the woman also displayed a gun and told the individual to leave.
Police said the unknown man began walking away before turning around and opening fire on the couple. The other man returned fire, striking the shooter.
The unidentified man died at the scene in the park, police said.
The man and woman involved in the incident drove themselves to a hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released information on the extent of their injuries.
Investigators said the motive for the encounter remains unclear, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation.
The Daytona Beach Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident.
