
ILLINOIS — One person was killed and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash early Sunday morning on the Dan Ryan Expressway, according to Illinois State Police.
Troopers responded around 3:45 a.m. to reports of a crash on southbound Interstate 94 near 18th Street on Chicago’s South Side.
Authorities said two people were transported to an area hospital following the collision. One of the victims later died from injuries sustained in the crash. The condition of the surviving victim has not been released.
The crash prompted officials to divert traffic and close all lanes near 18th Street while emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene.
Illinois State Police said all lanes reopened shortly before 8 a.m.
No information about the identities of those involved or the circumstances leading up to the crash has been released.
The crash remains under investigation.
