FLORIDA — A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a Jacksonville Transportation Authority bus on Interstate 95 South early Sunday morning, according to transportation officials.
The crash occurred shortly after 4:30 a.m. near I-95 South and University Boulevard.
A JTA spokesperson said the bus was not in service at the time of the crash and was not carrying any passengers. The bus operator was not injured.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene, and the right lane of I-95 South remained blocked for several hours while investigators worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Authorities have not released the identity of the pedestrian.
The Florida Highway Patrol and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office are jointly investigating the crash. JTA officials said the agency is cooperating fully with the investigation.
No additional details have been released.
