VIRGINIA — A bicyclist died after a crash involving an SUV in Lynchburg on Saturday evening, according to the Lynchburg Police Department.
Police said officers and members of the Lynchburg Fire Department responded around 5:35 p.m. to the intersection of Monroe Street and 10th Street following reports of a crash.
According to investigators, the collision involved a bicycle operated by an adult male and an SUV.
The bicyclist was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment. Police said he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Authorities reported that the driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The cause of the crash has not been released, and the incident remains under investigation by the Lynchburg Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
