OHIO — Less than two months after Buc-ee’s opened its first Ohio location in Huber Heights, attention is already turning to where the Texas-based travel center chain could expand next in the Buckeye State.
The Huber Heights store, which opened in April 2026 along Interstate 70 near Dayton, marked Buc-ee’s entry into Ohio and quickly became one of the company’s most successful openings. Company officials reported that the location generated more than $1 million in sales on its first day, making it Buc-ee’s strongest opening-day performance to date.
While Buc-ee’s has not officially announced a second Ohio location, plans are already being explored in Richland County near Mansfield. City officials have confirmed that a petition has been filed for a proposed Buc-ee’s travel center near the Interstate 71 and U.S. Route 30/Ohio 39 interchange, one of the busiest highway junctions in north-central Ohio.
The Mansfield proposal is considered logical because it would place a Buc-ee’s along Interstate 71, one of Ohio’s primary north-south travel corridors connecting Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati. The location would also serve travelers heading between Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and the South.
If Buc-ee’s ultimately decides to expand beyond Mansfield, several other Ohio locations appear to fit the company’s typical site-selection strategy.
One possibility is the Interstate 75 corridor near Findlay. The area experiences heavy traffic between Toledo, Dayton and Cincinnati while offering the large undeveloped parcels of land that Buc-ee’s typically requires for its massive travel centers.
Another logical location would be the Interstate 80 and Interstate 76 corridor near Youngstown. A travel center there could capture traffic moving between Ohio, Pennsylvania and the Northeast while extending Buc-ee’s presence into a part of the state not currently served by the chain.
The Interstate 90 corridor west of Cleveland is another possibility. Buc-ee’s has increasingly targeted major interstate routes with high traffic volumes, and northern Ohio would provide access to travelers heading between Chicago, Cleveland, Buffalo and the eastern United States.
For now, Mansfield remains the only publicly known location being explored for a second Ohio Buc-ee’s. With the company continuing to expand into new states and additional markets across the country, including North Carolina, Wisconsin, Kansas and Louisiana, Ohio appears likely to remain part of Buc-ee’s long-term growth plans.
If another Ohio store is built, the Mansfield area currently stands as the strongest candidate due to its central location, major interstate access and ongoing discussions involving a potential Buc-ee’s development.
