FLORIDA — A Tallahassee man was killed early Saturday morning after his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree in Wakulla County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at approximately 1:45 a.m. on U.S. Highway 98 near Hideaway Lane.
Troopers said the man was driving westbound on U.S. Highway 98 when he approached a curve in the roadway. According to investigators, the driver failed to negotiate the curve, causing the SUV to travel onto the north shoulder of the highway before colliding with a tree.
The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Florida Highway Patrol has not released the victim’s name pending notification of next of kin.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
