
OHIO — Two people suffered serious injuries after a small plane crashed in a field Friday afternoon in Muskingum County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers from the Zanesville Post were dispatched around noon to Spease Road, just north of State Route 16, after receiving reports of a plane crash.
Investigators said 76-year-old John Graham, of Adams Mill, was piloting a Boeing E75 Stearman with 69-year-old Debra Graham as a passenger when the aircraft went down.
According to an initial investigation, the plane experienced engine failure, causing it to crash into a field.
John Graham was transported to Genesis Hospital with serious injuries. Debra Graham was flown by medical helicopter to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, where she was also reported to have suffered serious injuries.
Dresden Fire and EMS, Frazeysburg EMS, MedFlight and the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were notified and responded to investigate the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
