FLORIDA — The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has launched a death investigation after human bones were found in a wooded area near Lakeland Thursday night.
Deputies were dispatched around 7:47 p.m. to the area near Fish Hatchery Road and Morgan Combee Road, where they located the remains. A death investigation was immediately opened following the discovery.
Authorities have not identified the individual whose bones were found, and it remains unclear how the remains ended up in the woods.
The investigation is ongoing. The Sheriff’s Office said additional updates will be released as more information becomes available.
