FLORIDA — Two people were killed and two others were seriously injured in a wrong-way crash on J. Turner Butler Boulevard Thursday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened shortly after 9 p.m. near Marsh Landing Parkway when a 21-year-old Ponte Vedra man drove a pickup truck west in the eastbound lanes of JTB.
According to FHP, the pickup truck collided head-on with an SUV traveling east in the right lane.
The driver of the SUV, a 73-year-old Ponte Vedra Beach man, and a 67-year-old female passenger from Ponte Vedra Beach were killed in the crash.
A 38-year-old woman who was also riding in the SUV suffered serious injuries, troopers said. Authorities reported that all occupants of the SUV were wearing seat belts.
The driver of the pickup truck, who was not wearing a seat belt, also suffered serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
