NORTH CAROLINA — One person was killed in an overnight crash in southwest Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Police said officers responded to a fatal crash shortly after midnight Thursday at the intersection of Shopton Road West and Steele Creek Road.
Authorities initially asked drivers to avoid the area while crews responded to the scene, but the roadway has since reopened.
Investigators have not released details about what caused the crash or how many vehicles were involved.
The investigation remains ongoing.
