NORTH CAROLINA — The Weaverville Police Department is investigating after a reported stolen vehicle led officers on a pursuit that ended in a crash in Asheville on Sunday afternoon.
According to police, officers responded around 1:48 p.m. to a report of a crime in progress at the Walmart on Northridge Commons Parkway in Weaverville.
Authorities said the suspect fled the scene in a stolen vehicle, prompting a police chase toward Asheville.
Investigators said the pursuit ended after the suspect crashed the vehicle. Police said the suspect then ran from the scene on foot into a nearby neighborhood and has not yet been located.
The investigation remains ongoing.
