Thousands without power in Pennsylvania

PENNSYLVANIA — More than 6,700 homes and businesses across Pennsylvania are without power Sunday morning, according to PowerOutage.us.

As of the latest update, 6,790 customers statewide are affected by outages out of more than 6.7 million tracked customers. Pennsylvania currently has the third-highest number of reported outages in the country, with about 0.1% of customers statewide without electricity.

Allegheny County reports the largest number of outages with 1,432 customers affected. Northumberland County follows with 907 outages, while Luzerne County reports 802 customers without power. Erie County has 726 outages, and York County reports 364 customers affected.

Among utility providers, PPL Electric Utilities reports the most outages statewide with 2,500 customers without service. FirstEnergy reports 1,748 outages, while Duquesne Light Company has 1,431 customers affected. PECO Energy Company reports 799 outages across its coverage area.

PowerOutage.us said Pennsylvania ranks ninth nationwide for the percentage of customers affected. Utility crews continue working to restore service as outage numbers are updated throughout the morning.
