MARYLAND — A man and a juvenile have been arrested after investigators connected them to multiple vehicle break-ins and a commercial burglary in Leonardtown, Maryland, according to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said detectives arrested 19-year-old Nathaniel Warren Shaklee after serving a search-and-seizure warrant May 21 at a residence in the 24000 block of McIntosh Road in Hollywood. A juvenile suspect was also taken into custody and charged through custodial apprehension. The juvenile was not identified because of legal protections for minors.
The investigation began May 12 when deputies responded to a report of a vehicle break-in in the Leonardtown area. Investigators said a Kel-Tec .40-caliber rifle, two magazines, ammunition and a hard case were stolen from the vehicle.
Deputies later located the suspects, but officials said they fled on foot and initially avoided arrest. The stolen firearm and related items were recovered.
Investigators later linked the suspects to additional attempted vehicle break-ins reported the same day.
On May 14, deputies responded to Brudergarten Bar in Leonardtown for a reported commercial burglary. According to the sheriff’s office, surveillance video showed suspects damaging cash registers and stealing alcohol from the business.
Shaklee and the juvenile both face charges including second-degree burglary, fourth-degree burglary, storehouse breaking, eight counts of rogue and vagabond with intent to commit theft from a vehicle, theft scheme between $1,500 and $25,000, theft between $100 and $1,500, and theft under $100.
The investigation remains ongoing.
