MICHIGAN — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a 55-year-old Kalamazoo County woman who has been missing for more than a week, according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office.
Jennifer McCormick was last seen around 5:30 p.m. on May 13 at her home in Alamo Township, Sheriff Richard Fuller said during a press conference Friday.
McCormick, who family members describe as a high-functioning woman with Down syndrome, is described as 4 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
Officials said McCormick’s brother and caretaker reported her missing around 8:25 p.m. that evening after returning home and discovering she was gone.
Authorities said it was not unusual for McCormick to be left alone for short periods of time, making the disappearance out of character.
Investigators said they have checked credit card records and found no indication that McCormick purchased transportation or traveled with someone else. Officials also said she does not have a cellphone and is not known to carry cash.
Shortly after the report was filed, deputies deployed K-9 units and drones to search the area around the home. Investigators have also contacted relatives both in Michigan and outside the state.
Sheriff Fuller said investigators are working with limited leads and are asking anyone who may have seen McCormick to come forward, regardless of where the sighting may have occurred.
Anyone with information about McCormick’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office at 269-488-8911 or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.
