
ILLINOIS — Danville police are investigating after a body was discovered during demolition work at a vacant building Thursday afternoon.
According to the Danville Police Department, the body was found inside the former Studio 25 building at 128 North Walnut Street. Deputy Chief Doug Miller said the building was being torn down when workers discovered the body.
Officers responded to the scene around 12:36 p.m.
Police said the investigation remains active, but authorities do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
Officials are waiting for preliminary autopsy results and for the victim’s family to be notified before releasing additional information. Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden said the autopsy was scheduled for Friday.
