TEXAS — One person was killed and three others were hospitalized after a single-vehicle crash early Thursday morning on Highway 288 in Pearland, according to police.
The Pearland Police Department said the crash happened just after 1 a.m. on the southbound SH 288 toll road near McHard Road.
Authorities said officers arrived to find a vehicle overturned on the highway ramp with four occupants trapped inside.
First responders were able to remove the victims from the vehicle, police said. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while three others were taken to hospitals. Their conditions have not been released.
Officials said the crash caused extensive damage to a guard rail, forcing closures along the outbound toll road while crews assessed the scene and roadway conditions.
Investigators have not said what caused the crash. The Pearland Police Department said the investigation remains ongoing.
