
MISSISSIPPI — More than 3,500 customers across Mississippi are currently without electricity Wednesday morning, according to PowerOutage.us.
As of the latest update, 3,596 homes and businesses statewide are experiencing active power outages. Mississippi currently ranks eighth in the nation for the total number of outages and fifth nationwide for the percentage of customers affected.
Tippah County has the highest number of outages in the state, with 1,358 customers currently without power. Attala County reported 885 outages, while Hinds County had 249 and Pontotoc County reported 229. Benton County also reported 160 outages Wednesday morning.
Among utility providers, Tippah EPA reported the largest number of outages with 1,518 customers affected. The utility also has the highest outage percentage in the state, with about 12.02% of customers without electricity.
Entergy reported 1,351 outages statewide, while Pontotoc EPA reported 241 outages and Southwest Mississippi EPA reported 188.
Overall, about 0.24% of the nearly 1.5 million customers tracked across Mississippi are currently without power Wednesday morning.
Utility crews continue working to restore service in affected areas across the state.
