Thousands without power in Louisiana

LOUISIANA — More than 4,200 customers across Louisiana are currently without electricity Wednesday morning, according to PowerOutage.us.

As of the latest update, 4,271 homes and businesses statewide are experiencing active power outages. Louisiana currently ranks seventh in the nation for the total number of outages and eighth nationwide for the percentage of customers affected.

Caddo Parish has the highest number of outages in the state, with 839 customers currently without power. Calcasieu Parish is close behind with 815 outages, followed by Natchitoches Parish with 359 and Orleans Parish with 334. Sabine Parish also reported 239 outages Wednesday morning.

Among utility providers, Southwestern Electric Power Company reported the largest number of outages with 1,832 customers affected. Entergy reported 1,688 outages statewide, while Beauregard Electric Cooperative reported 590 outages.

Beauregard Electric Cooperative also has the highest percentage of affected customers among tracked utilities in Louisiana, with about 1.33% of customers currently without power.

Overall, about 0.18% of the more than 2.3 million customers tracked across Louisiana are currently without electricity Wednesday morning.

Utility crews continue working to restore service in affected areas across the state.
