Two people arrested following large drug bust in Texas

TEXAS — Two people were arrested following a major drug bust on San Antonio’s east side, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Javier Salazar said BCSO’s organized crime unit had been investigating a home in the 200 block of Nelson Avenue for several weeks before executing a search warrant Tuesday.

Authorities said investigators expected the suspects to possibly be armed and resistant, so deputies maintained a heavy law enforcement presence during the operation. Officials said the two suspects were detained during a traffic stop after leaving the residence, allowing the SWAT team to enter the home without significant resistance.

Inside the residence, investigators said they found a half-pound of cocaine in brick form, several ounces of crack cocaine, more than a pound of methamphetamine, several pounds of high-grade marijuana and THC vape cartridges.

According to BCSO, the drugs had a street value totaling tens of thousands of dollars.

Deputies also recovered several weapons and a high-end pickup truck that authorities said had been reported stolen.

Officials said the suspects will likely face federal charges. Salazar said one of the suspects has an extensive criminal history, including about 19 prior charges.

Investigators believe the house was being used primarily for drug operations because it reportedly contained no furniture.
