ARIZONA — Phoenix police are investigating after a man was found dead on Interstate 10 late Saturday night in central Phoenix.
According to police, officers responded just before midnight to the eastbound lanes of I-10 near 12th Street to assist Arizona state troopers with reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Investigators said the victim was later identified as 66-year-old Max Jeffrey.
Police said the driver involved told investigators Jeffrey had fallen from an overpass before being struck on the freeway. Authorities noted the driver showed no signs of impairment.
Detectives said it has not yet been determined whether Jeffrey fell from the overpass or was hit while attempting to cross the interstate.
Investigators are continuing to search for surveillance video and additional evidence as the case remains under investigation.
