MICHIGAN — A 48-year-old man was killed Saturday night after his motorcycle crashed into an SUV in Bedford Township, Michigan, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the crash happened around 9 p.m. at the intersection of Secor Road and St. Anthony Road.

Investigators said a 68-year-old driver of an SUV entered the intersection from Secor Road and attempted to turn west onto St. Anthony Road when the vehicle was struck by an off-road motorcycle.

Authorities identified the motorcyclist as Clayton Devol of Temperance. Deputies said Devol was thrown from the motorcycle before the bike caught fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office said Devol was not wearing a helmet, the motorcycle did not have a headlight and the vehicle was not authorized for roadway use. Investigators also said alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.

The SUV driver was not injured and was released at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
