Five people dead following vehicle crash in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA — Five people were killed and another person was injured in a head-on crash early Friday morning in Spartanburg County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened around 12:45 a.m. on Highway 101 near the Bellview Road extension.

Investigators said a 2025 Ford SUV traveling north on Highway 101 collided head-on with a 2016 Toyota SUV traveling south on the highway.

According to troopers, the driver and passenger in the Ford SUV died in the crash. Authorities said the driver and two passengers in the Toyota SUV were also killed.

Another passenger in the Toyota SUV was injured, troopers said.

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said officials are working to notify the families of the victims before releasing their identities.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
