
NORTH CAROLINA — A traffic stop involving a man with outstanding warrants led to the seizure of drugs, a firearm and cash in Jackson County, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said they located a vehicle driven by Jesus Eduardo Diaz around 11:30 p.m. May 12 in a parking lot. Authorities said Diaz had an outstanding warrant and was driving with a revoked license.
After stopping the vehicle, deputies said they developed probable cause to search it and recovered about 9 grams of suspected fentanyl, 10 grams of suspected marijuana, 1 gram of suspected methamphetamine, a Glock 43X 9 mm handgun and $588 in cash.
Diaz was charged with trafficking fentanyl by possession, trafficking fentanyl by transportation, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver fentanyl, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver marijuana, maintaining a vehicle or place for controlled substances, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a concealed gun, possession of drug paraphernalia and an open container alcohol violation.
He was also charged under a habitual felon order for arrest.
According to the sheriff’s office, Diaz is being held in the Jackson County Detention Center without bond.
