
NEW JERSEY — More than 2,000 customers across New Jersey are without electricity Friday morning, with the overwhelming majority of outages concentrated in the northern part of the state, according to PowerOutage.com.
As of Friday morning, 2,034 homes and businesses are currently without power statewide out of more than 4.16 million tracked customers. New Jersey ranks ninth in the nation for total outages and sixth for the percentage of customers affected.
The largest outage is reported in Sussex County, where 1,893 customers are without electricity. That accounts for approximately 2.67% of tracked customers in the county, making it the hardest-hit area in the state Friday morning.
Smaller outages are also being reported in Hudson County, Burlington County, Somerset County and Passaic County.
Among utility providers, FirstEnergy is reporting the largest number of outages with 1,906 customers affected statewide. Public Service Electric & Gas is reporting 124 outages.
FirstEnergy also has the highest outage percentage among tracked New Jersey utilities at about 0.16% Friday morning.
Utility crews continue working to restore service as outages remain active across portions of New Jersey Friday morning.
