OHIO — A 23-year-old Dayton man was killed late Thursday night after being ejected from his vehicle during a suspected impaired-driving crash on Interstate 70 in Montgomery County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers from the Dayton Post responded just before 11 p.m. to the crash on eastbound I-70 near Interstate 75 in the Huber Heights area.
Investigators identified the driver as Peter Wade, 23, of Dayton.
According to an initial investigation, Wade was driving a 2012 Ford Focus eastbound when the vehicle veered off the right side of the interstate and struck a guardrail. Troopers said the car then traveled across the highway and crashed into the concrete median wall.
Authorities said Wade was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
Medics transported him to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said alcohol is suspected to have been a contributing factor in the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
