Two people detained following drug bust at Ohio residence

OHIO — Oxford police raided a home near Miami University on Thursday morning, marking the second drug bust near campus within the past week.

According to police, officers executed a search warrant at the so-called “Mountain Dew” home located off East Walnut Street near the Oxford campus. Authorities said investigators seized cocaine, electronics and drug paraphernalia during the search.

Two people were detained during the raid. One person was later released, while the other was taken to the police department for questioning. As of Thursday afternoon, no charges had been filed.

Police said the search warrant is connected to another drug raid conducted last week on South College Avenue near campus.

In that case, 22-year-old Miami University student Will Esler was charged with drug possession and drug trafficking after investigators said they also found cocaine, electronics and paraphernalia. His case has since been bound over to a grand jury.

Oxford police said both raids are part of a month-long investigation that remains ongoing.
