Thousands without power in Pennsylvania

PENNSYLVANIA — More than 5,200 customers across Pennsylvania are without electricity Thursday morning, according to outage data from PowerOutage.us.

As of the latest update, 5,275 customers statewide are reported without power out of more than 6.7 million tracked customers, representing about 0.08% of customers across the state.

Lehigh County is reporting the highest number of outages with 1,537 customers affected. The county also has the highest percentage of customers without power statewide at 0.83%.

Philadelphia County is reporting 1,153 outages, while Centre County has 602 customers without electricity. Other counties with notable outages include Chester County with 364 outages, Columbia County with 226 and Westmoreland County with 185.

Among utility providers, PPL Electric Utilities is reporting the largest number of outages with 2,020 customers without service. PECO Energy Company is reporting 1,777 outages, while FirstEnergy has 1,152 customers affected.

Pennsylvania currently ranks seventh in the nation for the total number of outages and eighth nationwide for the percentage of customers affected, according to the outage tracking website.
