
TEXAS — An accident on Interstate 10 has caused major traffic backups Thursday morning in Beaumont, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
Traffic reports show heavy congestion in the westbound lanes of I-10 stretching from College Street to just past the U.S. 69 southbound exit ramp following the crash.
Officials said the accident was reported just west of the U.S. 69 exit. The added congestion is also affecting drivers attempting to access the interstate from Washington Boulevard, where heavy traffic was also reported near the eastbound I-10 intersection.
According to TxDOT traffic maps, eastbound I-10 traffic and northbound U.S. 69 traffic were moving normally Thursday morning. Other monitored roadways in the city, including U.S. 90/College Street, Major Drive and Martin Luther King Boulevard/Spur 380, were also reported clear.
No information about injuries or the number of vehicles involved in the crash was immediately released.
