OHIO — A 37-year-old man was killed in an apparent road rage shooting early Monday morning on the East Side of Cleveland, according to police.
Cleveland police said officers responded around 4 a.m. to the area of Miles Avenue and East 95th Street after reports of a shooting and crash.
Investigators said officers found a red 2018 Jaguar SUV and a white 2012 Nissan Altima at the scene. The driver of the Nissan, identified as Jabrail Adams of Cleveland, had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
First responders performed life-saving measures before Adams was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner.
Police said a passenger in the Nissan told investigators the pair had been traveling eastbound on Gaylord Avenue and attempted to turn south onto East 95th Street when a black SUV blocked the intersection.
According to the report, the driver of the SUV told them, “It’s a one-way anyway,” before the Nissan driver attempted to go around the vehicle. Investigators said the drivers exchanged words before the Nissan was shot multiple times while traveling southbound on East 95th Street.
Police said Adams was struck in the head while the vehicle was still moving. The passenger attempted to regain control of the car before it crashed into the Jaguar and then a building.
The driver of the black SUV fled the scene. Officers recovered 10 spent 9mm shell casings at the intersection.
The shooting remains under investigation.
