
TENNESSEE — A 19-year-old motorcyclist was killed Tuesday afternoon following a crash on Highway 153 in Chattanooga.
According to the Chattanooga Police Department, the crash happened around 2:40 p.m. in the 5700 block of Highway 153.
Police said a preliminary investigation found that an SUV was turning across the southbound lanes into a parking lot when the motorcycle struck the passenger side of the vehicle. Investigators said the SUV then collided with a parked car after the impact.
Hamilton County EMS pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. Authorities said no other injuries were reported in the crash.
Southbound lanes of Highway 153 were temporarily closed as emergency crews responded to the scene and investigated the crash, causing significant traffic delays in the area. All lanes later reopened Tuesday evening.
