FLORIDA — Several people were arrested following a drug raid at a home in Altha that investigators say uncovered methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and child neglect concerns.
According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, the agency’s Criminal Investigation Division Narcotics Unit and the North Star Multijurisdictional Drug Task Force executed a search warrant shortly after 6 a.m. Friday at a residence on Northwest Murdock Drive.
Deputies said Monica Jane Willis, Larry Edward Rushin III, Kayla Leanne Burke and several others, including a small child, were inside the home when the warrant was served.
Investigators reported finding 31.9 grams of suspected methamphetamine inside the master bedroom belonging to Willis, along with digital scales, drug paraphernalia, materials commonly associated with narcotics distribution and Adderall pills that were not stored in a properly labeled prescription bottle.
Authorities also said deputies discovered a homemade water bong containing liquid methamphetamine and additional narcotics-related items throughout the room.
According to investigators, Rushin had been living at the residence since April 18, when he was previously stopped and allegedly found in possession of methamphetamine.
Deputies said Burke and her small child were sleeping in a children’s bedroom where approximately 0.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine was found on a nightstand within the child’s reach.
During the execution of the warrant, deputies also arrested Rashawn Devosla Dawson after he allegedly entered the active scene and became combative with law enforcement.
The sheriff’s office said Dawson ignored repeated commands to leave the area and allegedly struck Deputy Jacobs in the forearm while deputies attempted to redirect him away from the residence. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Willis was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell or distribute, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a drug dwelling.
Rushin was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine.
Burke faces charges of possession of methamphetamine and child neglect.
Dawson was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting or obstructing without violence.
