
FLORIDA — Three people are hospitalized after a vehicle went over the side of an Interstate 95 overpass in St. Lucie County early Tuesday morning, according to the St. Lucie County Fire District.
The crash happened near mile marker 131 at State Road 68, also known as Orange Avenue, west of Fort Pierce.
Officials said the vehicle fell nearly 30 feet from the overpass before coming to rest on the southbound side of Kings Highway. Emergency crews responding to the scene were updated while en route that the vehicle had gone over the side of the bridge.
Three people inside the vehicle were transported by ground as trauma alerts to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center. Authorities did not immediately release the extent of their injuries.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, according to fire officials.
The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol and the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.
