
ALABAMA — More than 5,200 customers across Alabama are without electricity Tuesday morning as utilities continue responding to scattered outages across the state, according to data from PowerOutage.us.
As of the latest update, 5,256 customers are without power statewide out of more than 2.6 million customers tracked. Alabama currently ranks third in the nation for the total number of outages and second for the percentage of customers affected.
The hardest-hit area is Shelby County, where 3,476 customers are without electricity Tuesday morning. That accounts for more than 3% of customers tracked in the county.
Other counties reporting significant outages include Cullman County with 801 outages, Tuscaloosa County with 141, Jefferson County with 132 and St. Clair County with 131.
Among utilities, Alabama Power reports the largest number of outages, with 4,127 customers affected Tuesday morning. Cullman Electric Cooperative reports 800 outages, representing the highest percentage of customers affected among major utilities tracked in the state.
Additional outages are reported by utilities including Tallapoosa River Electric Cooperative, Sand Mountain Electric Cooperative and Baldwin EMC.
Utility crews continue restoration efforts Tuesday morning. The cause of the outages is not immediately available.
