VIRGINIA — A special education school bus carrying two students crashed Tuesday morning in Rockingham County, according to school officials.

The crash happened along Route 33 near Valley Doors Unlimited in Penn Laird.

Chris Sours, director of transportation for Rockingham County Public Schools, said the bus was carrying two students, a transportation aide and the driver at the time of the crash.

Officials said there were no serious injuries reported, but everyone on board was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

“The students remained safely secured in their wheelchairs and all passengers were properly restrained at the time of the accident,” Sours said in a statement.

The crash remains under investigation. School officials said the district will continue cooperating with investigators and review safety procedures as part of its standard process following transportation incidents.
