PENNSYLVANIA — Kissel Hill Elementary School in Lancaster County closed Monday after a power outage disrupted the start of the school day, according to school officials.
School officials said the outage occurred after administrators arrived at the building while students were still coming in for the day. The cause of the outage was not immediately known Monday morning.
Students will not have classes for the remainder of the day, officials said.
Parents who had already dropped off their children at the school were asked to return to pick them up. Students who arrived by bus were taken to the high school, where parents were also being asked to pick them up.
The school principal sent an alert to parents explaining the closure and pickup arrangements, according to a school secretary.
Kissel Hill Elementary serves students in kindergarten through sixth grade.
Officials said updates would be provided as more information becomes available.
