Thousands without power in Tennessee

TENNESSEE — More than 3,000 customers across Tennessee are without power as of Monday morning, according to PowerOutage.us.

The outage tracker reported 3,022 customers without electricity statewide, affecting about 0.09% of the more than 3.4 million customers being tracked.

Tennessee currently has the second-highest number of power outages in the nation and ranks sixth for the percentage of customers affected, according to the website.

Shelby County accounts for the vast majority of outages in the state, with 2,836 customers without power. Williamson County reported 58 outages, while Sumner County had 57. Claiborne County reported 26 outages and Roane County reported seven.

Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division reported the highest number of outages among utility providers, with 2,836 customers affected. Nashville Electric Service reported 66 outages, while Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corp. reported 59.

Officials have not released a cause for the outages. Utility crews are continuing restoration efforts across affected areas Monday morning.
