TENNESSEE — A nine-month drug investigation in Decatur County has led to the indictment of two dozen people and the seizure of vehicles allegedly used to sell methamphetamine, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Authorities said “Operation River Walk” was a joint effort involving the TBI, Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, Drug Enforcement Administration, Tennessee Highway Patrol and several other agencies.
Investigators said 17 people have been charged in connection with the operation, while warrants remain active for seven additional suspects. Of the 24 people facing charges, 11 had been taken into custody as of Thursday.
According to the TBI, 10 of those arrested face charges related to the sale and delivery of methamphetamine, while one person was charged with the sale and delivery of hydrocodone.
Authorities also arrested three additional people Wednesday on unrelated charges.
During the investigation, agents seized two vehicles allegedly used in methamphetamine sales, including a dump truck.
Decatur County Sheriff Dale King praised the agencies involved in the operation.
“I’m grateful for the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in this operation,” King said. “It’s a reminder that there’s strength in numbers, and the collaboration across jurisdictions makes a difference in keeping our communities safe.”
Officials said additional arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
