FLORIDA — A multi-car crash with injuries shut down all eastbound lanes of Interstate 295 near the Dames Point Bridge in Jacksonville on Thursday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported around 9:53 a.m. on I-295 Eastbound at Heckscher Drive. Troopers said multiple emergency vehicles responded to the scene as crews worked to assist those involved and clear the roadway.
Authorities said all eastbound lanes were blocked following the crash. Westbound traffic was also affected as first responders directed some eastbound vehicles through the median to ease congestion.
Officials urged drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes while the investigation and cleanup continued.
Details about the number of vehicles involved and the extent of injuries were not immediately released.
The crash remains under investigation.
