LOUISIANA — A Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office investigation into a reported theft at Juban Crossing led to the arrest of a Baton Rouge woman Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
According to Sheriff Jason Ard, detectives identified a female suspect and attempted to contact her in the shopping center parking lot. Officials said the suspect ran from deputies but was taken into custody a short time later after a brief chase.
Investigators identified the suspect as 37-year-old Katherine Morrison of Baton Rouge.
Authorities said Morrison was found in possession of more than $500 worth of merchandise stolen from two stores at Juban Crossing.
Morrison was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center. Detectives also discovered she had several active theft warrants in neighboring jurisdictions, according to the sheriff’s office.
The investigation remains ongoing.
