NORTH CAROLINA — One person is dead and another was hospitalized following a rollover crash Tuesday night in Waxhaw, according to police.
The Waxhaw Police Department said officers responded to a crash at the intersection of McCain Street and Arbor Drive around 7:30 p.m. on May 5.
A preliminary investigation found that the vehicle was traveling west when it left the roadway and struck a tree.
Authorities identified the passenger who was killed as 61-year-old Ricky Gladden, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was transported to a hospital. Officials have not released information regarding the driver’s condition.
Police said speed is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
