
SOUTH CAROLINA — A woman has been charged after authorities say her newborn child tested positive for cocaine.
According to the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested Sarah Walters on Monday, May 4, on a charge of unlawful conduct toward a child.
Officials said both Walters and the infant tested positive for cocaine following the child’s birth. No additional details about the circumstances surrounding the incident were released.
Authorities said Walters turned herself in at the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office. She was later booked into the Marlboro County Detention Center, where bond was set at $7,500.
The case remains under investigation.
