GEORGIA — A child was safely rescued Monday morning during an active SWAT situation in north Georgia, according to authorities.

The Towns County Sheriff’s Office said deputies, along with Georgia State Patrol SWAT and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, responded to a home involving a barricaded subject.

Officials confirmed that one child has been removed from the residence without injury. Authorities said an adult remains inside the home.

The incident is unfolding in the Ashland Cove area of Young Harris, where law enforcement has asked the public to avoid the vicinity as the situation continues.
